Are We There Yet?

This week has been wonderfully busy and has flown by.  It is a four day work week for me with the big wedding festivities this weekend and I had two days out of the office so it’s been a really great work and there is just one day to get through now!  I am so close to the weekend I can feel it!

It’s really nice knowing my bestie is back in my province and not that far away. I am so excited for her big day to see her look so beautiful and marry her guy.  She was there for my big day and I am excited to be there for hers. Let’s do a quick recap of this week.

Monday was a busy day at work and then I had to leave a bit early to go for a dentist appointment.  That’s never fun and it made it worse knowing it was right during my usual workout time.  Rude.  I was able to make it to a later class.  I texted my friend to find out if it was a good workout to go to, or if it was something I could just do at home because I was on the fence about going.  She basically told me what it was and it sounded terrible but I knew I wouldn’t get many chances to go this week so I went.

IMG_9008 It was as brutal as it sounded.  We did back squats as strength and it was 3 sets of 7 reps.  I got to 105 lbs which I was quite happy with.  Then the workout.

When it got to the 6 and 6 it sucked.  It didn’t sound too bad to me but it was awful.  As usual it felt amazing afterwards but it was a challenging one to get to.  It didn’t help that it was pretty hot outside too for the running.  I got 4 rounds in.

Tuesday I was up extra early to catch a train to my conference and I was home late so there was no workout for me.  I had intentions of doing something but I decided to enjoy a rest day.  Wednesday I unexpectedly made it to my usual 415 class and it was a lot of fun.

After this wod we did another one that I really liked because it involved the prowler and the sled.  We did 45 seconds at 5 different stations and rotated through it all twice.  The stations were ladder drills, shuttle runs, tire step ups, prowler push and sled pulls.

I got home and had pulled pork, sweet potato and salad for dinner.  It was a repeat of my Monday night dinner but it was so nice I had it twice.  In my trackers.  #winning


So basically now all I have to do is get through one more day of work and then I am off spending time with the girls doing prewedding festivities and then celebrating the big day!!!  I am pretty much counting down the minutes now.

Showers and Shenanigans 

What a weekend!  I had such an amazing time with some seriously amazing people this weekend. Friday evening after the gym C and I went and watched J play baseball. On our way home we got ice cream and cuddled for a bit before we went to sleep. 

Saturday morning I got up and was super excited for the day’s events but feeling a little stressed so I went for a run to clear my mind.

 I did a bunch of arms and ab work before getting ready for L’s bridal shower. I was so shocked at how great it looked when I arrived. It was beautiful and it was SO nice to see L again. 

After the shower we headed to Niagara Falls for the bachelorette party. We had an amazing time with tons of details I think L really appreciated. I made us a signature cocktail that had Cotten candy vodka, cranberry and club soda in it. It was really tasty.

It was a late night for us with lots of dancing and of course some late night poutine. 

Sunday when I got home I did some meal prep and laundry and watered my garden. I was feeling better than I thought I would despite the many cocktails and very little sleep. 

For dinner we met with my in laws and enjoyed a nice dinner out. No cooking and a delicious meal- yes please!  

Now we are ready for next weekends wedding activities and I am hoping the week flies by. xoxo

And So it Begins…

Can we just talk about the fact that we made it?  It’s finally here- it’s the weekend baby!!!  As I mentioned yesterday I am pretty excited about this weekend.  I got a text first thing this morning from my bestie L that she has landed.  And all is right in the world again.  Sadly I have to wait one more day to see her.  This will probably be how it goes down when I see her.

I need to digress and go back to spent hug really exciting that happened when I got home from work. I had a lululemon package waiting for me. Always a good thing to come home to. I’m pretty in love with my purchases.   I don’t remember which tank this is but I want another one. Ps please don’t judge the mess in my room ‘k thanks.

I hit up the gym after work and we did deadlifts as our strength. We did sets of 3 and I worked up to 155lbs.  We did sprints in between sets.

The goal was 3 rounds. I got 2 and was 12 squats in to my 18 on the 3rd round.

So. Freaking. Excited

This week has been a combo of so fast since the weekend is almost here, and so slow since it’s not the weekend yet.  Why do you ask?  Well because I am SO excited for this weekend that I can barely function with everyday life.  One of my favourite people in the whole world is coming home tonight!!!

The even more exciting part is that she is coming home to get married!!!  We have been friends for about 5 years now and we met at work and made an instant connection.  She has seen me through many low points and has stood by me for my happiest moments as well.  I am so excited to be a part of her big day.

She lives way too far away from me now but we still talk every day and I am planning a visit out to see her this Summer.  This weekend is her shower and Bachelorette and it’s seriously going to be so fun.  We have lots planned but it’s a secret so I can’t say anything more.

This week has included my regular workouts with lots of lifting.  Monday’s wod had lots of push pressing and we went heavy, and it was mixed in with lunges and ab work.  Last night we worked on power cleans as our strength and that lift is my nemesis.  Once again I made it to my max of 95 lbs and got the bar up to beat it but I just couldn’t get under it.

This was a killer.  I was dead by the end of it. I used 55 lbs.   It was a beautiful night out and I did the workout outside.  When I got home I made dinner and then headed out for a bit to see a friend.  I spent the rest of the evening getting stuff ready for this weekend’s festivities.


Today’s workout started a short 5 minute wod of ladder push ups and sit ups. C was with me and joined in and I think she must have got inspired because she asked to do the other workout too. It was a partner workout and the coach’s son was there so they were partners.

One partner did a 200 m run while the other worked on the AMRAP. Then the second partner carried on where the other left on while they run. C and her partner did a scaled down version and can I just say she was doing the cutest little thrusters. 

It’s been a great week and I am one sleep away from the weekend and I couldn’t be happier about that.

The Long Weekend Had Me Like…

I don’t know about you guys but I love a long weekend. It started off with a workout Friday after work. I know we did deadlifts for our strength, but the WOD I  having trouble remembering. I think it was pull ups and squats and push ups perhaps?  I can’t remember exactly.  

Saturday morning started off with a good workout that was a partner WOD. A friend who was off for awhile is back and was my partner. 

32 min AMRAP

P1- 4 shuttle runs

P2 – 16 burpees

       16 box step ups

       16 ground to overhead (55lbs)

       16 front squats (55lbs)

The round was timed by the shuttle run and then when we switched you just picked up where your partner left off. It was a killer workout and it was hot out. 

The rest of my day I was very productive. I got some shopping done, a mani and a pedi, a drink with a friend I haven’t seen in ages and a little bit of relaxing.

For dinner it was just J and I and he grilled some steaks and we had steak Caesar salads. I used the Bolthouse yogurt dressing and I recommend it for sure. It’s so yummy!

We spent the evening getting caught up on one of our favourite shows. J is under the weather and fighting a nasty cold so it was a low key night. 

Sunday I set my alarm to get up and go for a run before it got too hot out and before I had to get ready to leave pick up C and head to my parents.

I had a great day visiting my family and we stayed until the evening.    It was pretty great going to bed knowing we still had another day to enjoy of the weekend.

Then when those were done we did burpees. As a team we did 142 burpees. It was a crazy one that left me really sweaty. 

We did some errands during the day and then we cleaned up our porch and I am so happy with how it turned out.

We watched fireworks in the evening and we had a really great display.  It was the best weekend and I was really sad it had to come to an end. At least we have a short week to get though!  xoxox

A Beautiful Night

Thursday was good to me.  It got off to a rough start when I woke up postitve it was Saturday.  What a cruel joke when I realized it wasn’t and I still had two more days.  Rude.

I was really sore in my traps and shoulders all day as a result of kicking ass on Wednesday. So I knew I wasn’t going to do any type of lifting Thursday, so I went with a run.  It was an amazing night for it.  Just the right amount of sunshine and breeze.

I am obsessed with a new song that is on my current running playlist.  When I started to slow down and lose pace it came on and it totally got me through.

When I got home I was starving.  I had made pulled pork in the slow cooker so there was very little prep involved in my dinner.  J put a sweet potato in the oven for me to bake while I was running and it made an amazing dinner that we both agreed would have to become part of our regular rotation.

Now we can revel in the fact that it’s Friday and it’s a long weekend.  I don’t think anything can ruin my day. xoxo

Oh Hi!  I am just checking in to give a recap of the last couple of days.  It’s been a whirlwind of a week so far and we are already halfway through!  I am not complaining at all.

Tuesday I was lucky and got to sleep in a little bit because C had an appointment. I relaxed in bed longer than I normally can and then got up and did this plank workout for the first time. I will definitely be doing this again.

I made myself a delicious healthy breakfast and actually got to sit down and enjoy it without feeling too rushed.

I hit up the gym in the evening and it was a really fun class.  It was a smaller class than usual on a Tuesday and we did 3 short 5 minute AMRAPS.

1- plate pushes and wall balls

2- ring jackknives, ankle touches and flutterkicks

3- plate push ups, sit ups and mountain climbers

After we worked on our strict pull ups and I was able to do a few without a band, not strung together but individual ones I did get a few.

When I got home there was a delicious dinner of steak, salad and quinoa with edamame waiting for me thanks to my amazing husband.  I am a lucky girl that’s for sure.  I was so hungry I didn’t snap a photo. #fail

Wednesday’s workout started with strict press for strength.  We worked to find our 3 rep max.  I managed to PR my 3 rep max and got three reps at 70 lbs.  We didn’t use racks, so that was including a clean.  Pretty great right???  We then used that weight for the wod.

Basically starting with 10 and going down by one each round, and doing the lunges each time.  I alternated rounds doing squats and sit ups instead of lunges just to be nicer to my knee and hip.  When I heard the workout and saw I was supposed to use 70 lbs I thought there was no way I could do it.  I tried and was impressed to see I was able to get into the 5th round before I dropped it.  My wrists were killing and really that’s why I had to drop it.  I only took off 2.5 lbs per side and did the remainder with 65 lbs.  I felt amazing that I was able to get through that much with that weight.  Definitely getting stronger.  We finished off with some intervals of high knee sprints to get a burst of cardio.

I spent the evening relaxing.  C is a little under the weather so we took it easy.  I enjoyed my current favourite snack while watching some tv, and placing an online lululemon order.

Now we are almost through the week and it’s a long weekend coming up so life is feeling really good for me despite what’s been a bit of a rough week.  Adult problems I guess.
